On Page Tips

Email Marketing is the king of advertising in online marketing but the effect of spam filters and volume emailers has certainly put a damper on the reach it once had. This has forced online marketers to reach deep and learn new methods of online marketing. Search Engine Optimization has moved to the forefront of many online marketers advertising plans.

Search Engine Optimization is the art of designing your web pages to be ranked high by search engines for keywords that you target. There are several methods and they vary from Search Engine to Search Engine. One aspect of Search Engine Optimization relays heavily on the Onpage Optimization.

Onpage Optimization deals with the placement of keywords on the page, the header tags, the appearance of the keywords and the use of keywords in the meta and alt tags on the page (See Meta Tag Description Example). Below are some tips on OnPage optimization that I have picked up and used in my own web sites.

Step1: Select a page title that only includes your keywords.

Step 2: Use Header Tags to emphasize the keywords you have selected. Use your number 1 keyword in the {H1} tag and secondary keywords in your {H2} header tags.

Step 3: Write solid content that naturally includes your main and your secondary keywords throughout the text. If possible use your first keyword as near the top of the content and as close to the bottom of the content as possible.

Step 4: Once the content is complete go through and randomly bold, italicize and underline the main and secondary keywords.

Step 5: Be sure to use your keywords in the alt tags of your images.

As a guide you might do a search for you main keyword in Google. View the page and the source code of the page to see what OnPage Optimization that webmaster did to get a top rank.

While OnPage Optimization can be a significant reason why your web site ranks well in the search engine there are several other key factors like, page content, link popularity, site indexing and competition.

Search Engine Optimization is an equal opportunity marketing practice. If you are diligent you can create a flood of prime targeted.

SEO Techniques that should work

Despite the aura of mystery that surrounds search engine optimization, ranking high on the search engines is not nearly as hard as many SEO firms would like you to believe.

In fact, by the end of this article, you will know the four key techniques that work every time in the world of search engine optimization. This in turn will enable you to either (a) find affordable SEO services by knowing how to evaluate their services, or (b) do it yourself by knowing the secrets of how it's done.

So without further ado, here are the four steps or techniques for SEO success:

1. Choose keywords that are popular, yet specific and attainable.
2. Create site structure that preserves theme and link goodness.
3. Create original content that is keyword and latent-semantic-indexing (LSI) friendly.
4. Acquire inbound links using articles, press releases, and directory submissions.

The first step of keyword selection is fundamental to search engine success. If you choose keywords that are horribly competitive, you will have a difficult time out-ranking your competition. Stands to reason. And if you choose keywords that are horribly general, any traffic you do happen to get will be untargeted and unlikely to be interested in anything you're selling. Luckily, "general" and "competitive" tend to go hand in hand. So your best bet is to avoid them and choose specific keywords instead.

The only unfortunate thing is that very specific keywords have fewer people actively searching for them. This means that in order to ramp up the number of people who visit your website, you need to compete for more of these specific keywords.

But that's okay. That's the model that works. If you compare the website traffic that comes from one competitive keyword ranked on page 3 or 4 of the search engines to one low-competition keyword ranked on page 1 of the search engines, the low-competition one wins every time. Why? Because nobody ever sees the page 3 or 4-ranked keyword. The popularity of the keyword is irrelevant. If your rank is too low, you get no traffic. None.

What is SEO and Why should use it?

Search engine optimization is a group of tips and techniques are applied to increase the positioning of a web site in the search results of the most popular internet search engines. Since most users search the required service or information via the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and AOL, so, the rank of the internet site in the search engine results is a very important factor in determining how many web surfers will find and view the page.

There are various techniques that can be applied when using search engine optimization. One of the basic  ways that web masters use search engine optimization is to increase the number and placement of key words on their websites that customers are likely to use when searching for goods and services offered by the web site. Search engines index a page based on key word phrases and oftentimes add value if the key word appears within a certain concentration range. The caution here is that many search engines will lower the web page ranking if the keyword appears too many times by perceiving it as an attempt to fool the search engine. Keyword search engine optimization uses not only keyword concentration but also keyword placement. Many search engines place higher emphasis on key word phrases that are placed in web page titles and header tags.

The second technique for SEO is to increase the number of links to the web site being optimized. Most search engines have their algorithms with the assumption that a page that is highly linked to is more likely to offer quality content then one that has no links to it. Webmasters take advantage of this assumption by using link exchange programs to increase the number of links to their site. For this reason, many search engines now devalue two way links in favor of one way links. This means that a major goal of modern SEO is the creation and maintenance of one way links.

Since one of the main goals of the search engine optimization specialist is to increase the number of one way links, a number of methods have been developed to accomplish this goal. Social bookmarking, Article writing, Blog commenting, and press releases are some example of getting one way links. Another great method to create one way links is to provide testimonials on web sites. These testimonials will often feature a link to the testimonial provider's web site. Another way to create one way links is to make postings on internet message boards and include the web page URL in the signature line

Keyword Optimization

If you are able to increase search engine ranking by keyword optimization, you will save the time, which the backlink building would take and this method will bring you a lot of backlinks.

We can divide keyword optimization into two parts:
1.The technical part.
2.The qualitative part

1.The technical part.
When you write a SEO article, for example, first you will select a theme and the keywords, which are tightly related to that theme. Then you will proceed and examine the top five web sites per your keywords and see, if the SEO is done properly. Are the major keywords in the title, description, keyword list, h1,h2,h3 tags and in alt tags.

If the SEO is not well done and if the top site has no backlinks or minimal number your web site has the possibility to take that position.

The keyword optimization requires, that your keyword density is around 2 %, 2% of the words are keywords, and you will use your keyword in all those tags mentioned above. Write your keywords at least once in the bold, italic and underlined font and remember to put them also into the Author Box of your SEO article.

2.The qualitative part.

The SEO article works only, if the reader will get useful information written in an enthusiastic way. You have to think your SEO article content with the eyes of the reader. The job of your SEO article is to draw the reader into the landing page of your biz-opportunity, to make him want more about the topic. And to increase search engine ranking to reach those visitors.

When you will plan the keyword optimization of your SEO articles, select keywords, two for example, which will follow each other, like increase search engine ranking with keyword optimization. Now the relationship is natural, which makes it easier to use them.

You can multiply the keyword optimization effect by selecting keyphrases, which include several keyphrases or words, like: your own internet business ideas and opportunities. Just research quickly how many keywords that includes! All of those are bites for the search engines.

It is good if your keywords are as narrow as possible. Then the reader of the SEO article will get exactly, what he is looking for and the number of disappointed visitors will be minimal.
